The Platinum Pebble Inn, Cape Cod

Opting for a cozy B&B when traveling gives a great taste of local hospitality. The Platinum Pebble Inn, an old sea captain’s house circa 1830’s, is a gem tucked away on a quiet residential street of Harwich, Mass. A completely renovated interior means floral wallpaper and frilly curtains were swapped with clean whites and modern decor that to us felt very much like home. With our own penchant for interior design, we appreciated the details of Annabelle and Simon’s work – from the unique lighting fixtures to the different tile selected for every bathroom. I also adored the dark wood floors and striped wallpaper.

On our arrival we were delighted to find we’d automatically been upgraded to the two luxury superior rooms, which boasted cathedral ceilings and private patios for nibbling breakfast treats. The bedding and towels were some of the plushest I’ve ever felt, and I confess I even became entranced by their fresh scent. I may have poked my head into the laundry room to ask what detergent they use…the secret is Downy softener in April Fresh! I now use it on our towels and sheets.

Annabelle and Simon were gracious hosts, and we looked forward to chatting and laughing with them every evening on our return from exploring the Cape, while sipping wine and enjoying tiny bites of cake. She may be a city girl with a London accent, but don’t let her fool you, Annabelle can cook. She and Simon also have impeccable taste in restaurants, recommending not one but three top-notch culinary experiences we enjoyed during our stay: The Ocean HouseDel Mar Bistro and The Oyster Company.
