Life, Lately

Eight months ago, I embarked on one of the biggest milestones of my 30 years–I had a baby! I quickly became consumed with being a first-time mother and realized as the weeks ticked by that I couldn’t focus on anything that wasn’t a basic necessity. Because it was never my intention to leave this space so very quiet after Elsie’s birth, the lack of posts came on with no announcement and a blogging hiatus just happened. I hoped that eventually I’d find the time to introduce a little style back into my own days and to share those things again here once more. But I didn’t know when for many months. So thank you for your patience, for hanging in and checking back, and if you took a break too, I hope you’ll come back with me now as I breathe new life into this place!

With a renewed focus, I’m excited to share more lifestyle inspiration and ideas with the same Perpetually Chic aesthetic and “style made simple” approach you’ve come to know and enjoy. From tried-and-true style tips and favorite meals to must-have products and inspiring travels, I can’t wait to show you what’s in store! But in the meantime, a lot has changed in the past eight months, so a few exciting updates on my life, lately, that land us to now:

  • I quit my day job.
  • I’m working on a start-up for moms.
  • I’m speaking this fall (in Mexico!) at She Takes Flight, a leadership and empowerment retreat.
  • I have an eight-month old who is on.the.move.

More to come on all of the above!

I work, I play, I mother, I cook, I cry, I laugh, and I am trying just like you to keep everything in balance. Some days are more stylish than others. The only way I’ve found to do it all with any semblance of style is to keep things simple. More than ever before, I think you’ll find this theme rise up loud and clear in the content posted here. Life is complicated and time is in short supply. The clothes we wear, the food we cook, the things we do, the places we travel–they all contribute to a sense of self and the good life, but they can be simplified so they add to, not take away from, our focus on enjoying life. I’ll try to be your guide for simple + easy ways to bring style into daily life!

Also, I’d love to hear: What do you want to see more of here? Less of? Let me know in the comments below!
